BIGFOOT HUNT
Northern Minnesota
July 7-14, 2012
The most famous cryptid of them all, Bigfoot, has alluded researchers for centuries. This creature has been characterized as being a large primate covered in hair ranging in color from black, brown, red, grey and white, is very tall, walks on two legs, and of course, has big feet.
According to the BFRO, the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization, the county with the most sightings in Minnesota is St. Louis. We picked a location in St. Louis County, Northern Minnesota near the Canadian border where there have been recent Sasquatch sightings and rented a cabin on a large private lake with over 200 acres for a week. The area was very rustic, not another human for miles.

Bigfoot Hunt Day 1. We settled into our cabin then canvassed the area for any signs of Bigfoot. Cyndi kayaked to a small island which we explored later in the week and noticed a strong urine aroma, as if an animal marked it's territory. Bigfoot is known to have a musky, wet dog smell but not a urine smell that we know of. We found bear scat not far from the cabin. At night around the campfire we heard a creature lap up water near the lake and something large move in the brush. It could have been a bear. Listen to Joe's account of the night's events.
Side Note 1. One of our dogs, black lab Layla, jumped into the lake and took off swimming across the lake and didn’t look back. We had to get her with the boat.
Side Note 2. The guys caught so many fish we lost count. Over 150 for the week!
Side Note 3. Joey got sunburned. His skin hasn’t seen the sun since 2010.

Bigfoot Hunt Day 2. We found bear (not pictured, unfortunately Joey stepped on it) and deer prints while searching the woods. Then kayaked to an island and discovered a small animal skull. We did some Squatch calls at night. The only thing that answered were wolves.
Bigfoot Hunt Day 3. We took the boat to another island and discovered a deer carcass. That night we did some tree knocks, with no response.
Bigfoot Hunt Day 4. We did some hiking and discovered wild berries and a place in tall grass where a large animal had laid down, probably a bear. Darn bears. We want a Squatch! Night investigation on the lake. Two large rocks were thrown at the boat. Since there are no people for miles, we have no explanation for this. Maybe we are getting close.
Bigfoot Hunt Day 5. We interviewed a local man who told us there have been Bigfoot sightings in the area, one place in particular not far from the cabin, although he was inclined to think they were just stories. He confirmed the fact the creature could survive here in the vast wilderness forging for wild berries and hunting prey. There are many areas here not yet discovered by man. Joey and Cyndi canoed around the lake during the day. A large rock was thrown near them. This was not a fish jumping. It sounded like a rock and we saw it. We looked around but saw no one. Joe was in a boat fishing on the other side of the lake at this time.
Bigfoot Hunt Day 6. Took the day off to celebrate Cyndi's birthday in town with lunch at the Stony Ridge Cafe, home of the Sasquatch Burger! Can you believe nobody dared to try it.?!
Various photos from our expedition into the Northwoods.
Conclusion. This area near the Boundary Waters of Minnesota and Canada definitely can support a Sasquatch. There are abundant lakes, food including wild berries, foliage, and deer, also a large wooded area where an animal could hide and never be seen. We found signs of bear, deer, and wolves but no Bigfoot. Even though we did not come up with any evidence of this elusive creature, it won’t stop us from searching for them. This is one cryptid we believe could be real.
